What to See Inside the Castle

The Museum & Chapel

The castle museum showcases the history of Bled from the first settlements to the present day. Don't miss the 16th-century Gothic chapel in the upper courtyard, dedicated to St. Albuin and St. Ingenuin, which features beautiful illusionist frescoes.

Craft Workshops

Step back in time at the castle's workshops. See a replica of Gutenberg's wooden printing press in action at the printing works, visit the castle forge, and explore the wine cellar where you can learn about local wines.

Panoramic Views

The main reason many visit is for the unparalleled views. The upper and lower courtyards offer stunning panoramic vistas of Lake Bled, its iconic island church, and the surrounding Julian Alps. These terraces are perfect for photography.

How to Get to Bled Castle

Bled Castle is located at Grajska cesta 61, 4260 Bled. You can reach it in several ways:

On Foot: Several well-marked but steep walking paths lead up to the castle from the lake shore. The walk takes about 15-20 minutes. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

By Car: A road leads up to a paid car park just below the castle entrance. Parking is limited and can fill up quickly, especially during peak season. A larger car park is located further down the hill.

From Ljubljana: Bled is about 55 km from Ljubljana. Regular buses connect the two cities, offering a scenic journey. Trains run to the Lesce-Bled station, which is 4 km from the lake, requiring a short bus or taxi ride to reach the castle.
